Legg Park Clean-up

The Eco club visited Legg Park on Thursday to do some litter picking. What a lot of litter was found ! Keep up the great work Eco club you are making our local environment a much nicer place!

P3 Eco Schools 

The Eco after schools club members have been busy tidying the back garden. They had a great day in the sunshine collecting apples, pulling enormous weeds, litter picking and brushing paths. A great afternoon’s work. Well done everyone!

Eco Club

The Eco club had a very busy afternoon. We tidied up the garden area behind the mobiles. We raked and levelled a flower bed and then planted some wild flowers. We hope our new wild flower garden will attract lots of insects. Well done Eco club members you did a really good job!

Time to Clean Up!

The Eco After School Club had a lovely afternoon litter picking at Rhanbuoy Park beach, Carrickfergus. GREAT WORK KIDS!

Well done to our AMAZING Eco Club members who impressed the Eco judges and won our school the Green Flag.

We are all so proud of you! You have really helped to improve our school grounds, encouraged us all to do our bit to help our precious planet and you have helped to tidy up the local environment too! Congratulations!!!!

Walk to School Week

Everyday this week our Model pupils have been meeting together to form a walking bus to walk to school. We have had such lovely weather for 'Walk to School Week'. If you have missed your chance to come so far, remember there are two more days to go. So come along and meet us at Breyer's Fayre car park at 8.25am!

A Wonderful Tidy Up!

The Eco Committee members have been very busy this term. They decided to tidy the back garden.  Lots of digging, weeding and raking. New bug hotels and bird boxes. The soil beds are all ready for planting. Lots of hard work but how different this area  looks  now!

Eco Council Talk

Eco Council members came to P4 yesterday and gave pupils a talk all about 'Waste in Our School'. They have given us a heads-up on some of the brilliant initiatives and changes they are planning on implementing. We are excited about these changes and support our Eco committee 100%. Great job Eco kids!

Recycle Bus Visit P3

P3 had a great time today visiting the recycling bus. The children were shown how to use newspaper to make plant pots and they planted some cress seeds.

Recycle Bus Visit P4

P4 had a great time today visiting the recycling bus. They learned a lot about landfills, what different items are made of - and there were some surprises - and how to be creative and reuse paper for origami art. 

Eco Assembly

Some members of the Eco Committee presented an assembly on Waste. They will also be visiting P1 - P4 classes in their classrooms. Our school will be trying to reduce waste throughout the remainder of the year starting with ‘Waste Week’  on 11th February. 

Eco Team Tackle Waste

Members of the Eco team have been busy every day this week at lunch time picking up litter in our school grounds. The bags are not too full, that is a good sign. Keep up the good work everyone! Remember to put your litter in the correct bin, general litter or food waste. 

Eco Motto Competition

Here are the P4, P5, P6 and P7 winners of our school Eco Motto competition. Ultimately there had to be one overall winner, so congratulations to Alesha for winning. Her motto is now our new school Eco Motto and it will be displayed in every classroom in the school. Fabulous work kids!

ECO Council - September 2018

Have a look at the pictures below to see what the Eco Council have been doing to help our local area. They have been cleaning up the beaches and thus helping sea life and they have been making bird feeders from recycled materials. What a super bunch of kids they are!

ECO Councillors

Our eco councillors have many very important jobs to do around our school. They help to keep the environment tidy, they raise concerns about the environment and provide us with solutions, they plant bulbs and maintain the gardens around our school AND they help us to save energy. 

During the first term in school the eco team decided to take part in the energy ‘Switch off Fortnight’. As part of this the committee decided to have a poster competition entitled - ‘Best Energy Saving Slogan’. The Power Team then mounted the winning posters around the school.

In addition to this the members of the Power Team audited classrooms each day for a fortnight to find out who the best energy saving class was and ...

PRIMARY 5 MRS BOYD'S CLASS were the winners of the ‘Best Energy Saving Class’ competition. The prize was 10 minutes extra playtime! What a lucky bunch!

ECO Flag Award

Congratulations to Mrs Falconer and the school ECO Council on achieving the ECO flag award once again.  Worthy recgntition of all the hard work undertaken by Mrs Falconer and her ECO councillors - Shannon Jess, Stuart Crooks, Erin Walker, Emily Magill, Jayden Hamilton, Ben Palmer, Anya Laughlin and Alex McGrew.  Well done everyone!

Walk to School week

A massive thank you to all our parents, grandparents and pupils who participated in the Sustrans Active Travel Walk to School week in May.  As you can see from the photos, those who took part on the Monday morning really had to brave the elements to walk to school that day!

Sustrans Active Travel - Orienteering

As part of the Sustrans Active Travel initiative, Primary 6 & 7 pupils participated in orienteering sessions in late November.  We are pleased to report all pupils navigated their way around the course - some more quickly than others!
